Treatment with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

TMS

Hamilton Psychiatric Services” is using the most advanced technology called Deep TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) to treat major depression.

Our Approach and Values

The treatment is non-invasive, is covered by most major insurers as well as Medicare and is highly effective.

Deep TMS is a treatment that converts electric currents to a summation of magnetic fields. This technology was developed at the NIH and further developed by Brainsway, through which it received FDA clearance in 2013.

The Brainsway Deep TMS treatment is used extensively by many leading medical centers and private practices throughout the world. The treatment is comprised usually of 36 sessions of 20 minutes each. The sessions are divided to 20 sessions (5 a week) for four weeks followed by up to 2 sessions a day for up to 8 weeks. Many patients will start feeling improvement within 2-3 weeks. Remission and response rates as reported by various psychiatric practices who treat treatment resistant patients reach rates of 51%-75% respectively and even higher.

Patients may continue with their medications (Unless the doctor decides that some meds should not be used in conjunction with the treatment) and as the treatment progresses the Dr may decide to augment or stop using the medications.
